- Free Utility FakeCursor: A Cursor for your WM Device
A SolSie.com reader (Thanks! Patrick Y.) has pointed out a free utility called FakeCursor, which displays a cursor on your mobile device screen - This capability is what iPaq HX4700 users have been using - The cursor allows stylusless (or one-hand) navigation, the D-Pad can be used to move the cursor around your screen, the action button acts as mouse click, while the context menu can be invoked by holding the action button.
The install process is easy but not conventional, you copy the .exe file to your WM device, tap on it will launch the settings and the install.
You’d use the normal WM5 button mapping to map to a hardware button to activate the fakecursor program, while the hardware mapping to de-activate is done within the FakeCursor settings (icon shortcut is in Start-Programs)
Note: The cursor does not work on the built-in keyboard. During the testing, I had to de-activate the D-pad control from PocketBreeze, otherwise there is a conflict. Another thing, with the cursor activated, you can still use the stylus, however the tap and hold does not work. You have to use the cursor to do that (point and hold the action button). While the cursor is activated, any buttons in the settings (see screenshot below) other than “disable” settings will be taken over by Fakecursor. (The below settings seem to be my preference as well)
You can download the version 1.03 here , and a newer version 1.05
here! The cursor is also skinnable. The arror shown below can be downloaded here! Just copy the file to the same folder as the .exe file to put to your WM device
