From Asia’s 2006 Computex
- Asus MyPal A639 with 1 GB ROM:Â Just when you thought 256MB ROM is a very generous amount of internal storage for a Pocket PC, Asus has just unveiled a new Pocket PC which packs in 1GB worth of ROM. Making its appearance at Computex Taipei, MyPal A639 comes with integrated GPS (SiRF Star III chipset), Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11b/g WiFi. Just in case you got too excited with the huge amount of storage, this device does not have any phone capabilities nor a VGA screen.
- Asus MyPal P525: Asus released information that they intend to bring the Asus P525 in the next few months to Asia. Some key features of the Asus P525, it is Skype ready, a program for business card recognition that converts the information to Outlook’s Contact list in two simple steps and a propreitary security feature that allows sensitive information to be stored on a special folder ranging from documents to multimedia.
A quick look at the specs, it runs a speedy processor at 416MHz Intel XScale, Quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900, GPRS, 128MB ROM, 64MB SDRAM, 240 x 320 pixels, 65,000 TFT, 1300 mAh Li-ion battery, Talk Time around 3.5 hrs, Standby Time 150-200 hrs, 2M-pixel camera with auto focus and flash light, WLAN 802.11b, Bluetooth Version 2.0, IrDa(SIR), USB 1.1, miniSD card slot, 2.5mm Audio Jack, Dimensions 116.8 x 59 x 19 mm, 159.5g, and it runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition.
- Mio PT200 w/20GB HDD: It looks like more and more Windows Mobile Devices will soon be packing in gigabytes of storage space, especially with MiTAC’s showing at Computex Taipei 2006. MiTAC reveals the PT200 which looks like one chunky device. This device runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 and has a 3.7″ VGA screen. It also features a whooping 20GB hard disk drive, a TV tuner using DVB-T standard, a SDIO slot and a 2400 mAh battery.
- Lite-On WM Phone w/USB Host: Lite-On, the manufacturer responsible for Acer’s recent Pocket PCs, has just unveiled a new Pocket PC code-named Pheonix 2 at the Computex Taipei 2006. Looking cool and sleek, this Pocket PC Phone runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 and is equipped with an Intel PXA270 processor running at 520MHz. It also comes with a 2.8″ QVGA screen, 128MB ROM, 64MB RAM, a SDIO slot, USB host, Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11b/g WiFi and a 2.0 MP camera. The USB host feature sure is a welcomed feature for Pocket PC Phones. At this moment, it is still unknown which brand will be carrying this device. Will it be Acer?
