Get Gmail on the go! Now you can access your Gmail messages from the web browser on your mobile device. Read and reply to your Gmail messages any time, anywhere.

Gmail should work on most web enabled mobile devices that have a mobile data plan. Point your device’s web browser to http://m.gmail.com

It has these cool features:

  • Automatically optimizes the interface for the device you’re using
  • Opens the attachments you receive in messages, including photos, Microsoft Word documents and .pdf files
  • Lets you reply by call to people whose phone numbers are in your Gmail Contacts list

And additional Beta features:

Google Mobile Search

In addition:
Google announced an update to Google Maps for mobile that will enable consumers in the U.S. to view comprehensive information on traffic conditions in more than 30 major metropolitan areas – and partial information in many others – right from their mobile devices.

After downloading Google Maps for mobile through their mobile phone’s web browser, users simply move to the desired location within the application and select “show traffic” in the menu. The most up-to-date traffic information will be sent directly to the users’ mobile device, and will highlight the conditions on the covered commuter routes using red, yellow, and green overlays.

Alternative solution: If you don’t need traffic, you might want to check out Map For PDA. It allows you to choose your map provider (Google, Yahoo, MSN Virtual Earth, etc.).
