- Sharp and Willcom’s “es” W-ZERO3 Pocket PC Phone Edition
Today Sharp jointly launched with Willcom and Microsoft the Willcom W-Zero3 AKA “es” Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition.
The “es” looks like a mix of Pocket PCs and Smartphones and also features a 2nd mobile phone styled keyboard on the front.
The Willcom W-Zero3 [es] is using Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 5.0 OS for Pocket PC Japanese editions with AKU2 and support of Microsoft’s MSFP and works on the Japanese PHS (W-SIM) mobile networks.
It’s sporting 2.8″ VGA screen with 640×480 pixels, and Intel PXA270 CPU with 416 MHz, 128 MB flash memory and 64 MB SDRAM, miniSD and W-SIM slot, 1.3 megapixel camera and measures 135x56x21mm with a total with of 175g.
According to the specifications it neither supports Bluetooth or Wi-Fi but is preloaded with Opera’s Opera Mobile browser for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and a FlashPlayer 7. However, another interesting feature is, that the W-Zero3 [es] supports USB host functions which means that it connects to USB keyboards and USB memory sticks.
Willcom will begin accepting reservations for the phone on July 14 and it will go on sale on July 27. Subsidized it will retail for around US$ 261 with a one year service contract.
