Firefox 2.0 Beta 2 is out!
Mozilla.org today just released the Firefox 2.0 Beta 2. I installed on my home PC and it works very well (speed, built-in spell checker, and almost all my extensions are supported).
However I still can not put on my work (production PC) yet. If you are in my case and still want to test out this great beta version then there is a solution for you: All you have to do is download the Firefox Portable file. Then you unzip the file and browse for the file FirefoxPortable.exe. Just execute that file and you will be running Firefox 2 Beta 2! The profile is kept with the FirefoxPortable folder so you don’t have to worry about messing up your other profile and the uninstallation process is simple…just delete the folder!
If you want to install Firefox 2 Beta 2 then the files are on Mozilla FTP. The release notes page is currently up but the download links that they have do not work. Here are the direct links for the downloads of the English versions:

The only thing that holds me back from upgrading is the worry that my extensions will not work. Now, you’ve given me a better idea, that is to make use of Portable Firefox to test for extension compatibility. I think I’m gonna give it a try soon. It’s also time to update the copy of Portable Firefox I have on my SD card.
Meanwhile….Firefox rox!!!
