Google Upgrades Their Mobile Suite

Google just announced an upgrade to their suite of mobile services, and for the first time Gmail will have an on-device helper application that dramatically improves the user experience.

While limited to Java-enabled phones (still a significant percentage of all phones made today), the newly updated Gmail Mobile features hot keys to speed navigation and the ability to perform other tasks commonly done using PC-based Gmail such as marking mail read or unread, composing a new message and jumping to your inbox. The new application also has support for viewing a number of different kinds of attachments including Word documents, PDF Files and images of various types.

From a user perspective the new application seems to offer a substantial speed improvement as reported.
