Paranoia about Hard Reset? Teksoft Airwizard can help!
As Windows Mobile matures, there are much less situations where a hard reset is absolutely needed, even when the battery is 100% depleted with WM5 or later.
You are a prudent user, we hope you already have a backup stored on the storage card. There are several third party products that can do that operation painlessly. These backup images are often a self-exec module. You only need to browse to it and launch the exe file to restore your device to earlier image.
But when you receive a new ROM from factory. The wise thing to do is re-install all your apps, which often is a very daunting task.
Teksoft Airwizard brings the solution to address this problem. (And if you have not looked in to the backup then Tecksoft can assume that function too).
AirWizard consists of a Desktop PC tool that creates a compressed, self extracting installer can take several CAB files, a splash image and a readme text file with instructions which can be executed directly on a Pocket PC or Smartphone. With AirWizard you can create one single installer for all your favorite programs, put it on your web server and after a hard reset, ROM update or device change, you can download it over the air and install all your favorite applications at once.

Hi, unfortunately. Hard Reset periodically it’s a must. However, it greatly depends if you install and uninstall lot of software. When you buy a PDA, you tend to install lots of junk until you find the exact combination of software that fulfill your requirements. Fortunately my iPAQ has already the HP Backup that performs full backups of my system, allowing me to go back to a working snapshot. I definitely lost my patience to perform a Hard Reset and start from the beginning. I’m have a Base Image with my essential configurations that I restore every time I do a Hard Reset, after that, it’s fully functional and ready to go.
So, if your PDA doesn’t have a backup software. Get one and start saving your time.
Yes, hard reset is inevitable. I’m also found of freeware, so I’m using many such programs out of curiosity. Sometimes I need to go for a hard reset, that’s ok, I’m doing it on a regular basis :)). But after the hard reset I need my programs back, and those are arround 10-12 cab files to be installed one by one. What a pain!
I guess I’ll try the AirWizard and get back to you.
