Read your Voicemail
During our business party two weeks ago in New Orleans with the Mardi-Gras festivities that were going on, there was no way to use voicemail nor phone, I started using SMS or text message to communicate with my colleagues. Text message is also the right tool when you are in a business meeting or a loud bar. The only downside is to enter the text using the phonepad when you are not used to it.
Today, a company called SimulScribe has come up with a technology that claims to be the answer.
The New York-based start-up uses voice recognition technology to transcribe voice mails into text. Your recipient gets a written message, via SMS or e-mail, approximately two to five minutes after the voice mail was left, If you want to listen to your message the old-fashioned way, you can still call your voice mail and check it.
Although the service, which is free for a week to try and then costs $9.95 a month for 40 messages, will work on any cell phone, it performs optimally on smart phones. On Monday, SimulScribe plans to announce its partnership with popular VoIP service Skype, providing Skype users the capability to receive their voice messages in text. More announcements are rumored to be on the way in late spring.

I use the services of spinvox, which is a a similar service. They offer the voicemail to text/email, but also have a host of other voice to text products including a speak a blog mobile blogging tool. They are offering a one year free trial in the u.s. too. From what I can see spinvox is really voicemail 2.0 that combines nicely with web 2.0
