Tips: Disabling Soft Keyboard(s) for Performance Improvements
I was lying in bed last night surfing the net on my Pocket PC when I realise what a long list of soft keyboards I have on my Pocket PC. Just to give you a taste of the soft keyboards I have; CE-Star, Pen Power, Remote Keyboard, Stowaway Keyboard, TenGO, Write Anywhere, Write Pad, Keyboard, Letter Recognizer, Block Recognizer and Transcriber. The final four were of course the default soft keyboard that came with Windows Mobile.
Then I thought, I don’t need so many soft keyboards, I don’t even use any of them except for TenGO. So I decided to hide/disable some of them using Tweaks2k2. You can also use this with SK Tools. If you don’t have any of them, I’m sure there are some other ways of doing it. Just google it or post it in the forums and I’m sure someone will know. Anyway after hiding the last three default soft keyboards, I instantly felt that the Pocket PC was moving along much faster. Before this it took a split second for my keyboard to appear when I call for it but now it appears instantly. Everything is just loading much faster than before. I must admit that this performance improvement must be noticable because I have so much soft keyboards loaded. If you have just one or two, you might not really feel the difference at all but if you’re like me and don’t use any of the other soft keyboards, why not just hide it? There’s no harm in that. It’s more pleasant to the eyes too.

It is good to remember to uninstall utilities that you don’t use!

Anyway, just to let you know: Tsong shares with us in the forum the free “Happy Tapping Keyboard”. There are some “eye candy” skins including the iPhone skin!

Hahahaha I’m just about to clean out my task manager(HandySwitcher) and stick with the iLauncher task manager. It’s at the point where I like it now. Didn’t like it in the previous version.
Oh and I installed SPB Mobile Shell on my phone. I love it soo much now. Be prepared for a review.
Can’t wait for the review!
