Have Video Wallpaper just Like Vista Dreamscene!

Just like the Windows XP Plus!, Vista Ultimate has its “Ultimate Extras”. One of the features is a new animated wallpaper feature called “Windows DreamScene”. (Read more about Vista Dreamscene HERE!)

Windows DreamScene at a glance:

• A Windows Vista Ultimate Extra
• Run High-Definition Video as a Wallppaer
• Uses .MPEG/.WMV as content

Windows DreamScene is an animated wallpaper technology developed by Microsoft that plays high-definition video content as your wallpaper. The key ability of it is that it can do so without using significant amounts of CPU (basically the decoding of the video is the only real CPU use involved).  The animation itself is run through the hardware accelerated DWM.  You can see in the below short video.

If you are not running Vista yet. The blog “VistaWired” shows you how to get this feature working on any Windows OS and Mac OS too just by using the free VLC Player. You might or might not have heard of this program but it is a free video player that eliminates the need to download many different codecs as it already recognizes a large number of them. VLC has a built-in feature that allows you to play videos as your wallpaper. Watch few examples of HD video you can use for your wallpapers!
