With the proliferation of portable audio devices. The accessory vendors also jump on the bandwagon with high end headphones for audiophiles. We have seen Headphones from companies like AKG, Grado, Etymotic, Sennheiser, Shure, or Ultimate Ears flooding the market; they offer very high-end audio quality as well as the cost, which is often more than the audio device itself. Unfortunately, the audio source has not made lot of progress. To address the shortcoming, there are few solutions out there to up-convert your audio quality. 
The vendors claim you will pleasantly that you will discover few more sounds that you did not hear before, out of your familiar tracks.
- HeadRoom’s Total BitHead beefs up the sound from any audio source in a way that used to require clunky gear and an AC power source — but in a pocket-size little box that can run on batteries or your computer’s USB port. The Creative Xmod is an external solution that utilizes the technology of its stellar X-Fi sound cards. Due to its ability to play nicely with both Mac OS X and Windows. The device can fit easily in your hand, but it is capable of upconverting your MP3s to 24-bit. Additionally, it can also introduce CMSS 3D for a surround sound-type experience. You can pick one up at your local electronic store for just under $50.
- CMOY Altoids Tin can. (My preferred solution): The CMoy is a very popular and easy to build headphone amplifier that can be fit into a mint tin. It can drive inefficient headphones and it sounds
