Enabling Offline Web App With Google Gears (Beta)

We all know Web-based apps are great, you don’t have to install anything on your computer and most of all they are free. However, the drawback is when you are not connected to the Internet then you can not run the app nor your data (e.g, Web-based Word Processing). Google overcomes this problem by giving you this browser extension that allows you while offline, you can still be able to enjoy their apps.

Google Gears (BETA) is an open source browser extension that enables web applications to provide offline functionality using following JavaScript APIs:

Store and serve application resources locally

Store data locally in a fully-searchable relational database

Run asynchronous Javascript to improve application responsiveness
