My Most Versatile Bluetooth Accessory Only Costs $40
I pulled out from my toy bag last week the GlobalSat BTH-820. And I start getting in love with it again.
Just in case you wonder.. this Bluetooth Headset is designed for wireless mobile audio devices powered with Bluetooth technology, such as mobile phones, PDAs and notebook computers. The Bluetooth Headset is amazingly small packs it all down to about half the size of a credit card that looks and feels small and attractive.
As a technology wearable you can enhance your clothes by clipping it onto a pocket or collar, or just hang it freely from a neck loop as a pendant. The BTH-820 gives you excellent audio quality by using Bluetooth technology (supported profiles: A2DP, AVRCP, Headset, and Handfree), it eliminates the need for a physical connection and gives you total wireless mobility within a range. It also fully supports mobile phones over Bluetooth. It can receive and answer phone by wireless communication, moving freely while your phone stays in your briefcase, the desk drawer, or even the next room. With the interchangeable headset, allowing you to use different headphones, you can personalize its performance of your choice even further.
This tiny Bluetooth receiver that can do so many cool things:
You can connect your favorite headsets and the BTH-820 can be a A2DP/AVRCP headsets that can receive stereo sound from your WM device (*). You can fully control the volume, next, previous with AVRCP capable media player such WMP from the BTH-820- You can pair with your cellphone and the BTH-820 becomes a discrete BT headset, you can comfortable listen to your conversation from both ears and the power built-in microphone transmits your voice with great clarity
- You can pair both A2DP and HFP/HSP at the same time so when a phone comes in, the device automatically switch from A2DP mode to HF/HSP to pickup your phone. After you hang-up your stereo audio will resume automatically too
- I have an Aux input to my car stereo when I am driving, I listen to my Podcast played from my Axim, but when a phone comes in, I can conduct my phone conversation on my car speakers without any echo. This is great when I car pool with some colleagues and we all can listen to a conference call.
- At home, I connect the BTH-830 to my home stereo or my portable speakers then I can stream my audio from my Axim.
The only drawback I found is the coverage is fairly limited to 1 or 2 meters ( 5-6 yards) as opposed to the standard 10 meters (33Ft).
The device is on sale for only $39.99 HERE!. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
(*) I have the Microsoft BT stack on my Axim. By installing the 2 Tornado patches and I can get A2DP working well.
With the MS stack, the below steps take me to fully exploit the A2DP on my Axim:
- Open BT Settings
- Mode Tab: Check turn on and make this device discoverable
- Put your BT stereo headset to pairing mode (blue & red blinking)
- Devices Tab: New Partnership
- The Axim should discover your headset
- Tap on the headset
- Enter the passcode
- All available BT services from your headset will show and the Wireless Stereo should already be checked
When you play the audio the sound is broken for the first time – turn off your Axim – Turn back on – Make sure the BT is on – Push a button on your headset to reconnect – Wait few seconds – From this point on the audio will be perfect with no skipping.
