YouSendIt has been providing a free staging place to upload large files. Upon the completion, you get the download link to use for your email.

Until now, it has been practical if you are online and you can access to YouSendIt with your Browser, but if you are offline or Outlook is your main email client then it is a bit complicated.

Luckily, YouSendIt just created an Outlook Plug-in for you. The free service offers up to 100MB in size (beyond the 100MB and up 2GB in size costs you $5/mo)

To send files directly from Microsoft Outlook

  1. Start Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Click on the YouSendIt toolbar button and fill in your username and password if you already have an account with YouSendIt service. If not, you can click on the Sign Up for YouSendIt Service to register for your own account.
  3. Select the uploading preference to decide when to use YouSendIt service for uploading attachments.
  4. Start attaching a file with your Microsoft Outlook and try to send it out. Based on your configuration in the previous step, Outlook may automatically send your email using the YouSendIt service or you may elect to confirm using the YouSendIt service.
  5. Click Outlook Plug-in Frequently Asked Questions for additional information on how to use this plug-in.
  6. If you run into issues, please send your questions and comments to Outlook plug-in support.
