TCPMP Plugin: Play Flash Video (.flv) Directly on WM devices
Update (Aug 29,07): There is a better solution to stream YouTube and other Flash-based video site HERE!
There are now several ways to convert YouTube to a format (such MP4, Mpg,Avi,3gp,etc..) that can play on the WM device. But most of these conversion only give a marginal playback video quality. A great Open Source project is designed to play .flv file (obtained by Flash-based Video sites such YouTube) directly on your WM5/WM6 PocketPC (no conversion is needed).. It includes two parts:

- Optionally: A program to download YouTube movie from your PPC - This program allows supposedly download YouTube video by providing YouTube video ID (I can not make this to work) - Alternatively, You can use www.keepvid.com , paste the video link (e.g. http://youtube.com/watch?v=I-dFFX64tS8) you will then receive a get_video.html; rename to whatever.flv
- Plugins of TCPMP to play .flv file directly on PPC (Just drop the 2 plug-ins to the TCPMP folder)
I tried with this .flv file (Chris Richardson sings “Don’t let the sun catch you crying” in American Idol). TCPMP plays beautifully this YouTube video! the video quality is astounding!

Use of powerful multimedia devices like projector and high quality printers like thermal printer has become common in educational institutes and offices. Some organizations, facing warm climatic conditions, use thermocouple as measure to avoid the heat effects for these devices. However HP and oki printer devices have built-in functions to combat extreme conditions and you don’t have to attach any additional device with them. This feature has also been introduced in tiny devices like digital cameras for better power management functions. |

Question: Will this work with Coreplayer? Some of us don’t have TCPMP installed anymore… although I suppose I could re-install it.
I’m using TCMP 0.81, wich already has a ffmpeg.plg wich has to be replaced in order to run .flv. But then decoding is really slow at the start of a .flv-video, for reasons unknown. Is it possible to “join” both .plg ?
Son Rici, Drop the flvsplitter.plg as well as the ffmpeg.plg that comes with the same package (I overrided my old ffmpeg with this one) in to the same TCPMP directory. Everything works fast for me.
Brandon, Why don’t you give it a try, and let us know!
Just drop flvsplitter.plg and ffmpeg.plg to CorePlayer directory (Rename the old ffmpeg.plg)
Works perfect!
