SunnySoft’s World Off-line Needs Your Input
Sunnysoft is looking for testers who are willing to provide input and suggestions for the next release. Please post a comment if you are interested. I will put you in contact with Sunnysoft.
About WOL:
Remember the old days, before the RSS/Blogging time, we relied on the Offline Web contents reading using Avantgo, Mobile Favorites, etc.
I have been using a number of RSS Readers on my mobile device. As you know, RSS reader is limited by the RSS feeds offered by the web site and often RSS feeds don’t present the whole contents (Solsie.com RSS Feed do offer the whole contents).
I test again Sunnysoft World-Offline and really like it. SWO is a tool that allows you to cache any Website to read offline. Unlike RSS reader SWO actually caches the whole Web sites, images and level of depth you choose.
When you launch your SWO channel, you actually use PIE to read offline; tapping on the links will take you to get you to another locations (already cached), so, even offline, it give you similar online browsing experience in faster speed. SWO also reformats the Web site if it is not yet ”Mobile optimized”.
The difference is clear, RSS readers are 2-D browsing while Offline Browsing provides a true 3-D browsing experience.
The beautiful thing is SWO can read your favorite RSS feeds too. Thanks to Vicott, you can use the little online script to convert your RSS Feed into HTML link for SWO. Just provide the RSS feed and click on Convert RSS button; copy the URL:http://….on your browser window and enter to SWO as new channel.
There are free utilities allowing to convert PDF to html. So you can use SWO to read PDF files too.

SWO’s autosynchronization profile cannot control the pda wifi on/off. Although SWO has a schedule,i still need to turn on wifi myself before the scheduled time. Also, after sync i need to turn wifi off ,too. That is too trouble.
Best suggestions/comments might get a free license…
HINTS…HINTS….
One thing that really gets on my nerves is why it takes so long to cancel download. When I press the cancel button, I would expect download to stop & go back to the main screen within 3 seconds.
And it would be great also if WOL is able to allow adding of RSS channels and have its own parser, thereby not requiring any online RSS to HTML convertors.
1-The download process is somewhat confusing and long.
The options can be improved: (Expired, selected, all).
2-Since WOL seems to run in the background, I am wondering if it takes any resource all the time
3-WOL uses IE cache, therefore the temporary internet files must be filled up quickly. I wish it comes with a capability to store IE cache on storage card – Some users might not have utility to move their IE cache. The default is in RAM
4-RSS reader capability is very welcome in the next release
5-If WOL can have option to download Audio Podcasts and Audio Podcast and auto create playlist (.asx) – Vicott can help,
I would be interesting in beta testing. Thanks
Tekipaq,
You can download and test the current version and provide inputs, suggestions, etc.. here
And it would also be great if the entire WOL settings including channel settings, channel ordering can be exported/imported. I find it a chore to re-order using the arrow buttons whenever I import from a backup.
And for links which are not downloaded because they are beyond the user’s settings constraints, I would also prefer the link to be the original link to the webpages rather than a link to “wol://page”. This way, I have an option to visit the selected page online conveniently if it’s not be downloaded/synchronised.
Thanks Vicott! Keep sending suggestions! SunnySoft monitors this thread closely!
I would like to download in my desktop and sync to ppc when needed
Dear all,
Sunnysoft appreciates your input and let me stress World Off Line will be redone and we will use all your tips (they will be implemented in functionality and given to programmer) wherever it will be possible.
We would like to thank you for all your current and future input!
Rgds,

Would be interested in beta testing as well!!
Overall I find the application very useful as a good complement to my offline RSS reader. However response seems a bit slow. I have the following input for the developers to note and enhance:
1. There should be an option to modify quick icons onscreen (instead of just having the default set)
2. It should support one-handed operations (e.g. right button opens up the menu, right button opens up the channel options) – the best thing is to have user-mappable button to action options
3. It should allow online search for URLs by keywords
4. It should allow user to choose another browser instead of PIE by default
5. The last synchronisation date and time should be displayed as default columns on screen for each channel / URL
6. It should have an option to display channel history (right from creation date)
7. It should allow user to click anywhere on the main channel page and option box should popup for user to add channels, sync channels, edit channels, etc
8. It should allow font change in the main channel page display
9. It is not working very well on landscape mode (a few screens did not work out well-e.g. in the select data folder screen, the screen is truncated when I go into landscape mode)
10. It should allow import from a typical bookmark file (from browser like IE) and automatically saves the URL for further editing by user
11. It should have a category to classify all the channels (for ease of reference and viewing)
This is a gd. software, but is not workable on WM6. Any workaround?
I am interested in beta testing as well.
