Apple Safari Browser for Windows First Impression Log
I download and installed Safari for Windows for a test run. Below are the list of impression of what I see (I am a newbie with Safari), please feel free to add yours:
Apple claims:
Safari is faster than the bloated up Internet Explorer you Windows users may be running now. Apple says that June, 2007 tests based on VeriTest’s iBench Version 5.0, Safari loads pages up to 2 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.
And it executes JavaScript up to 2.8 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.

- The install is painless (13MB) plus few Plug-ins
- All the Bookmarks from Firefox and IE are imported automatically
- The new Tab works well with Ctrl + T
- Apple Safari shows some affiliation with Yahoo, however, the new Yahoo Mail Beta does not work.
- I don’t know how to highlight the URL. With IE or FF, a single click on the URL would highlight the whole link. Ctrl+A works
- Update WordPress blog does not work neither. Lots of buttons are missing
- Same number of tabs opened shows less memory hog than FF
- Some sites I use frequently don’t support Safari (e.g. Eyespot.com, Mail.yahoo.com, etc.)
- Safari seems to render web site fast
- Right mouse click provides all the actions as Firefox
- I keep using the + button for new tab GRRRR.
- The Fonts are nice but not very well rendered
- I miss the Firefox plug-ins
- A real memory benchmark (same number of tabs) so Safari uses far more RAM then Firefox
- Engadget reports just only few hours after the release, Safari shows security vulnerabilities…
- It is a pre release. I am not using Safari as my main browser ..yet
