Backup your Contents for Free with Box.net
Box.net is an online Web storage provider. Unlike other offerings; Box.net makes the service stand out is its slick-looking file-sharing widgets. Box.net was voted among the 100 coolest Web apps by CNET Webware.
Users get instant previews of file contents. You can store for free up to 1GB or pay a little extra for more space with the service’s premium plans.
The files reside in your Box.net storage area, and as the widget owner you can even upload files through the widget. The newer and more advanced widget enables group sharing for members with premium and professional accounts. Users can password protect a shared folder, which can then be accessed privately by others that have the code. Storage owners can also opt-in to allow user uploading, which lets anyone with access add files.
More capabilities have been added last week:
Save files from Microsoft Office directly to your Box account
Microsoft Office is now Box Enabled! a plug-in has been released for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher that conveniently uploads any document you’re editing to Box. After the plug-in is installed, a “Save to Box.net” link will appear in the “Add-Ins” section of each Microsoft Office application. Clicking on this button will save your file to Box, making it easy to access from anywhere, share with anyone, or keep safe for later. The plug-in is compatible with Windows versions of Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007.
