Can Nintendo DS be a Great PDA?
After touting the Nintendo DS is a great MP3 player for your kids; we learned you can also enable the DS for Internet browsing with Opera over WiFi. But according to several reviews on the Blogosphere, the initial response isn’t so great.
Top gamer blog Destructoid found the browser is difficult of use (â€Pure frustration ensued and I nearly threw the DS out the windowâ€); Joystiq’s take is decidedly middling (â€the U.S. browser is just as crippled as the [EU and Japanese version and]… doesn’t offer anything revolutionary.â€)
Since there are almost 50 millions Nintendo DS and the recent trend that Apple initiated, regarding third party apps should be Web-based (hopefully with offline caching capability a la Google Gear or Adobe Apollo). I thought the Nintendo has lots of potential for its low cost, its simplicity, the dual screen and the omni-presence in each household.
We hope this is just the first “Beta” Nintendo Browser and the shortcomings will be addressed in very near future.
