A Closer Look at Windows Live Photo Gallery
We mentioned last week, Microsoft Corp. is about introducing two new online services to its Windows Live line-up on Tuesday and said it plans to release more Web offerings this year to beef up its Internet strategy.
Microsoft plans to take on Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. with its “software plus services†strategy, that aims to leverage its dominant market position for software running on the computer to a new suite of services delivered over the Internet. Windows Live Folders and Windows Live Photo Gallery (soon to come)

CNET has opportunity to try earlier version of WLPG. The most outstanding features:
- Panoramic Stitching: You can take smaller picture of a panoramic scene and just few click, the tool will stitch them together in to a full scene
- Photo Importing: As soon as you plug in your camera and tell Windows Live Photo Gallery to import them. Here is where the cool part comes in. It automatically sorted and organized the photos on your camera by the date that they were taken. By that I mean that it grouped photos taken in the same time frame (hopefully from the same event) and allowed me to label them.
- Windows Live Spaces Publishing: If you are a user of Windows Live Spaces, Microsoft is making it really easy for you to publish photos to your space. It literally only takes four clicks to publish a photo. It really could not be any easier.
Brandon LeBlanc, at the Windows Experience Blog, has a more detailed list of some of the features that didn’t get to cover here.
