Google Will be Portal for Sprint’s WiMAX
After the aggressive move to show its intention to bid the 700MHz wireless spectrum; Google announces today a collaboration with Sprint for the upcoming WiMAX network.
The agreement includes: Sprint’s WiMAX users will be able to search the Internet with Google and use co-branded versions of Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Talk services.
Sprint plans to roll the high-speed wireless tech out in Chicago, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. by the end of the year, and 17 more US cities by April of 2008. The company says that it hopes to reach 100 million people by the end of 2008.
