ROM upgrades with Windows Mobile 6 should be released to several models of HTC-manufactured phones by now, but we have to say that HTC is failing to make good on the promise…
Here is an email that one of owners of HTC phones has received directly from HTC:

The Windows Mobile 6 update will roll out from June. The provisional date for the S620 is believed to be in September. We have no more accurate information than that and as it is a provisional schedule, it is possible that if any last minute problems are encountered in the final testing phase, it may be delayed.
Thank You for your enquiry. Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html

It is a mystery why E-TEN can release upgrades to Windows Mobile 6 for their phones, but much bigger HTC can’t ? If nobody would be releasing such upgrades, then one could find it suspicious and one could put blame on Windows Mobile 6 itself but otherwise it is strange that only few – HTC, Samsung, Palm – are not releasing upgrades to Windows Mobile 6.

Situation is getting annoying because by now users were expecting to get Windows Mobile 6 ROM upgrades already… but it is not happening! Our advice is therefore clear: do not buy any Windows Mobile phone not powered by Windows Mobile 6! Clearly one cannot count on promises of manufacturers.
