David Beckham, famous English soccer player has become a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS) for the 2007 MLS season. The 31-year-old midfielder is starting today Saturday in Carson, near Los Angeles (and SolSie.com Headquarters).
Beckham shows up but plays “bench warmer” due to his ankle injury. But he’s expected to play for few minutes to please the crowd.
Beckham joins the Galaxy after his contract with Real Madrid expires last June 30. The most recognizable athlete in the world, Beckham has agreed to a five-year deal to play for the Galaxy, whose season opens April 8 in Houston. The deal to bring Beckham to America is thought to be the biggest in sporting history, with industry experts estimating the worth to the player in excess of $250 million.
