GooSync is Adding Contact Sync

21 August, 2007 Posted by As Mobile Phone,Tips,Windows Mobile (7) Comment

GooSync.com offers a FREE service to keep mobile phones (including Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and Smartphone) synchronized with GoogleCalendar

So far only the calendar sync component has been available, however GooSync is calling for Beta testers for the most requested feature: Contact Sync.

GooSync contact support has been in development for some time, they are now looking for volunteers to test the beta release due later this month. Anyone interested please e-mail beta@goosync.com with your details. Only 100 testers will then be randomly selected from all those who apply.

GooSync Contacts will be fully released sometime during September and will only be available in the advanced GooSync account.
To view details of the current status of contacts support please visit http://www.goosync-forum.com/showthread.php?t=45
Full feature support and release date will be available soon.

Welcome back Solsie!! Hope you enjoyed the break.

You know I really liked GooSync – I think it was just waaaay too expensive for multiple calendar sync. Once I figured out the conversion between Pounds to $$$ there was no way I could justify the price.

If they would drop it down to about the same price as Oggsync (which is still expensive IMHO) I might be willing, but even that is questionable.

Hi Brandon, The GooSync with single calendar is still free. But you are right, in order to get the ContactSync you’d need the Pro version.
Hmmm. Hosted Exchange is much cheaper!
FYI: Do you still have the FaceBook invite?

Hi Brandon,

Chris @ GooSync here, what would you consider to be a reasonable $ price for our service including contact sync?

Chris.

Didn’t see one come through??!! I know I didn’t turn one down :)

Sorry Chris – I didn’t even see that post. My appologies – I definitely wasn’t trying to ignore you :)
— all pricing in $$$ – I don’t think in pounds :)
To be perfectly honest – If Goosync was $19.95/year I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the service. But at the current pricing it is nearly double that. Considering I paid $100 for the phone – $40 for one year of calendar is (IMHO) excessive for the value provided. I can sync my phone with Outlook at home, and Outlook with Google via freeware tools. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the effort involved (my setp-dad is a programmer), and I’m willing to pay for the convenience of wireless sync – but not almost half the cost of the phone per year.

Now, another option would be a 1 time price. Obviously I’d be willing to pay more for that but again within reason. For example c-link can be had for $29.95 (one time price) and while it doesn’t support wireless sync, it is a promised feature. Contacts are another topic and obviously adds value to goosync…

Anyway, Those are obviously just my opinion – but here’s a link to a post I did that has some other folks opinions as well:
