Weekend Fun: Learn to Flight With Google Earth 4.2
We shared with you the latest release of Google Earth with the new integration off Google Sky. It comes to our surprise that in the latest version 4.2 there is another hidden feature, Google ”Flight Simulator”.
| After you launched Google Earth all you have to do is hit Ctrl+Alt+A (if you’re running OS X it’s Command+Option+A). You will be presented with the selection of either the F16 and the slower SR22 aircraft shown in the left picture.
Pick your aircraft and start the flight! |
You can get a quick start by holding Page Up for a few seconds to increase to maximum thrust (thrust meter is the left bar of the lower-left meters). Once you’ve accelerated to a sufficient velocity use the arrow keys to take-off.
Beware all the commands are very sensitive especially on the jet F16. Since the Flight Simulator support a Joystick, which certainly offers more control.
The Flight Simulator is currently a hidden feature, therefore Google does not offer much help. When I tried, there is no sound available, which takes a lot excitement out of the whole experience. We hope this great feature will make officially into next Google Earth release.
Update: You can find the list of control commands HERE!
[Thanks Marco!]
