Apple Unlocked iPhone Will be with T-Mobile Germany

In order to comply with a court injunction awarded to rival Vodafone by a German court; Deutsche Telekom’s mobile unit T-Mobile announced today that it will sell the Apple iPhone without a contract In Europe.

T-Mobile will sell an unlocked version of the iPhone for 999 euros, or $1,477. The unlocked phone will be able to use any service provider the consumer wishes. The same phone will sell for 399 euros ($590) if the customer signs a two-year contract with T-Mobile to provide carrier service.

In France, a similar unlocked iPhone offering is available as well.

Apple recently imposes several measures to stop the unlocked iPhone from flooding to other markets (e.g No cash deal, 2 units per customer, etc..). But I am wonderin,g the current legit unlocked iPhone will be either in French or German  languages, how easy it is to set back to English or let’s say Chinese?

I don’t think Apple can go very far in keeping everything they offer closed/locked because of the market authorities, but on the other hand they seem to be stopping quite some hacking etc. by releasing updates that can break/relock (or whatever, I’m not really following the developments) their products. So at least they try to make it difficult for those who do what Apple doesn’t want them to do!

Unfortunately, there are huge financial stakes that take place between Apple and the mobile carriers/operators. It is in their interest not the consumer interest.

There might be huge “financial stakes that take place between Apple and the mobile carriers/operators” but the courts dealing with this case have told T-Mobile that if they don´t unlock the iPhones they sell they will be fined €250,000…….PER UNIT!! And that´s a pretty good financial reason to unlock!
