CorePlayer Mobile to add YouTube Support

So far, only few HTC devices are able to stream YouTube video using the HTC Media Streaming. Other WM devices were left out, unless they add few Flv codecs to the open source TCPMP to play back offline YouTube videos. But this might change soon. According to the developer team at CorePlayer:

They have integrated YouTube Mobile streaming support into the next milestone release of CorePlayer Mobile (v1.2). But from their initial testing, the feature already works great and they are very excited to be bringing YouTube to the mass mobile market with CorePlayer!

To answer some questions that will be asked… :

  • Yes that means RTP/RTSP will be a part of 1.2 instead of 1.3 as planned
  • It will be YouTube Mobile Not YouTube ‘flash’ ( http://m.youtube.com )
  • Yes we have added a Google GData parser to the CorePlayer Platform
  • It will be a link at the bottom of the player as shown above
  • The interface will be a feature part of the CoreTheque database
  • We are planning to release it first for CE/Windows Mobile first then move outwards
  • No, we don’t plan to support flash videos

CorePlayer Mobile v1.2 will be announced at CES in 7 weeks. Beta testers will be able to sign up shortly.
