Along with Zune2 (Zune8,Zune80 and new firmware for Zune30)  release. A new and much-improved online service version of the Zune Marketplace is also available. The Marketplace now features:

  • Over 3 million tracks
  • Over 1 million DRM-free (unprotected) MP3s
  • Hundreds of audio and video podcasts (free), and music videos.

As far as pricing (yes, you have to use MS beans called points):

  • DRM-free MP3s will go for 79 Microsoft Points (or $.99 U.S.). That’s the same price as the protected tracks.
  • Music videos sell for 159 Microsoft Points, or $1.99 U.S.

Zunerama has posted review of the new Marketplace, you can explore lots of screenshots there.

My favorite feature is still the Podcast capability. I welcome this addition to the Zune. As we posted before. Podcasters might already installed the button on their Web site. Clicking on this will take visitors to the new Zune Marketplace software if they have it already installed. If not, users will have the option to download it. If you are Postcasters, can read Instructions how-to implement this button HERE!

In addition, 18-24 year olds represented a substantial share of the audience (29%) and were more than twice as likely as the average Internet user to download podcasts. People between the ages of 35-54 represented about half of the podcasting audience and were also more likely than average to download podcasts…Want to know more on Podcasting? Click HERE!
