Review of Rabbit Wars: An AIM’s Action Strategy Game for Windows Mobile
By Masa
So, it is not only humans who are waging a war for nothing. Now, Rabbits from AIM production are fighting their territories for carrots…When the real wars can make men out of boys It’s time to separate the real rabbits from the bunnies, because on Hare Hill, there’s no place for Fluffy and his bunch!
In this action-strategy-blasting turn-based war game, you’ll be leading an army of "lean mean rabbit machines", who are willing to fight to their last carrot. Your mission is to seek out and destroy all enemy rabbits in your territory and to recapture whatever ground you may have lost !
The only way to insure your victory, is to get to know the strengths, the weaknesses and the fighting skills of your troops. You’ll need every dirty tactical trick in the book, to out-smart and out-maneuver your enemy.
Think fast, strike hard, and don’t take prisoners!
It’s a dirty war, but somebody has to fight it…
So get out of your rabbit hole, pick up your carrot and go get them, soldier!
Read more after the jump!
The turned-based mode
As previously stated, this is a highly action-strategy oriented, the game is played a turn.. You and your opponent start with the same number of units. You give order to one of your soldiers, and it is the turn of the enemy.
When your unit is selected, you give the order to make a move or attack directly. Your soldiers have 10 seconds to move or shoot. Again they can either move or shot as action.
Extra caution is absolutely needed when aiming for targets to avoid friendly casualties.
Each unit has its own life span bar showing on its top carrying its specification; The armored tank is slow moving but offers long-range shooting; The jeep is fast moving, can go cross some difficult terrains, it carries a short-range machine gun; The bazooka, the walking rabbit, not too powerful but can deliver great good shooting range; The Rambo, the running rabbit armed with a heavy machine gun covering shorter distance; The mortar rabbit, slow moving but covers greater shooting range and It could bombard 4 units around the selected target, applicable only in expert mode; The unarmed helicopter to provide care to its units, usable only in expert mode.
The solo mode
It can just play against the computer without specific purpose except destroy the enemy units. But you have 10 different cards distributed in 3 different difficulty level: Novice, Normal, Expert. You will be offered to pick the artificial intelligence of the enemy (AI). Playing in this mode would enhance your skill for duel mode.
Who said war is ugly?
At least, in Rabbit Wars game. The graphics are stunning with great detailed color. The sprite units are my personal favorite.
When the tank shoots its artilleries, it makes a slight backward motion and the burst of fire of artillery shells at the canon splashes. The rabbit mortar, could be seen putting his shells into the machine and hand it hop a coup followed by 5 explosions in and around the target. The best is surely when a rabbit dies, it makes a jump in the air while spinning its legs.
The sceneries are varied and extremely well detailed, especially the tropical sceneries of Vietnam, which shows its lovely trees, rivers, etc..
The information showing on the screen are quite simple and straight forward:
The menu provides access to the options; go back to the home screen or exit the game. The Move command is move the unit, once this is done it will change Fire, which prepares to attack. Then Map command to view the position of troups.
The left bottom corner shows the 10 sec counter.

Game Maneuvering
You can easily play the game with one hand even as my thumb. I run pretty much all the moves from the D-pad.
The units handle in different ways, I normally classify them into two types: body-to-body combat or at long distance combat. For the first type, just to get close enough to an enemy, press the button to shoot and it’s over. For long distance type, a light push on the trigger find and aim the target. You can release the trigger to shoot when it is appropriate.

Exception to the rule, the helicopter. The helicopter role is just to provide care to the injured troupes, You just need to position the helicopter the top of the unit, pressing the trigger button will allow retrieving the injured units. Do not forget you only have 10 seconds to accomplish this retrieval action |
The war is noisy.
Again in the right direction, we hear birds sing, every vehicle on its own while traveling abroad (sound tracks for the tank). The same shots, not to mention that these rabbits are talkative

Multi-player mode is even better
The big highlight of the game is that you can play against other people, whether they are up to 4 on the same machine, just to put on Human each tab.
Players can play against each other over network (Internet, Lan or Bluetooth) in Duel mode. The PC version is included to the bundle |
So the war is good?
With these rabbits, yes. The game is beautiful, fun and filled with good spirit and great sound effects. The multi-player mode provides to the whole family hours of great funs
My ratings
Solo Mode: 8 / 10, Mode Multi 10/10
