Dear Santa, We Want a Wii

Update: I got one!

After playing at a party the Nintendo Wii, my kids decided they want to get one for Christmas. And here I am,  posting this from the waiting line outside the Best Buy store. Of course the Wii has been around for a year and we are still experiencing the shortage. It is hard to believe that Nintendo did not deliberately create this situation.

Here is what I found if you are in the same situation:

Best Buy B&M AvailabilityDoes this do anything?

WiiAlerts – Email/Cellphone alerts for Online stores like amazon,circuitcity.com etc confirmed works.

WiiSeeker – B&M shipment and eBay auctions information in your area

iTrackr – Another B&M shipment in your area for popular items this season

NOTE – These are not 100% reliable, but their information is very useful.

(*) YMMV, some places are holding units to sell on Sunday.

Worth the money… we bought one a short while ago and I love it. My daughter and wife both love it too. Wii sports is a blast.

PS. eBay might be a good place to pick up a deal. The console itself is $250, but add in Wii Play for $50 (to get the second controller) plus some of the extras the eBay sellers toss in and you could come in not too much higher than the store price. Depends on how bad you really want it.

Anyway, good luck getting one!!

I got one :-) after about 5 hr wait.
You are right the 2nd Wiimote is $39 but the package Wii Sport that includes the Wiimote and 10 additional games cost $50. So it turns out to be a $300 deal.
