scanR is a free service to snap a quick photho of a business card with at least 2-megapixel camera, then e-mail the image to scanR. In short order you’ll receive an e-mail containing a completed vCard to import into your contact manager.

scanR can also be used capturing whiteboards. A one-megapixel phone or camera will do; when you e-mail the photo to scanR, you get a PDF in return. scanR works with documents as well, but again you need a two-megapixel camera.

There’s software to do business card scans on the device: http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/archive/2006/10/20/business-card-scanner-for-windows-mobile.aspx

I’m skeptical that the PDF conversion is really just a PDF with a picture in it, at which point you might as well just use the picture viewer on your device.

For the business card, you get a .VCF file not PDF. You can import directly to Outlook. There is no software to install!
