Samsung’s New Arm-based Chip S3C6410

Samsung introduced a new ARM-based processor for mobile device. The S3C6410 “mobile application processor” includes special hardware accelerators to handle motion video processing and 3D graphics. The processor can be clocked up to 667MHz

The embedded Multi Format Codec  (MFC) allows this new processor to capture video in MPEG4/H.263/H.264 formats and replay in PEG4/H.263/H.264/VC1. Promising 30fps (frames per second) video processing and two-way real-time video conferencing while simultaneously improving battery life versus older processors.

Of course this Arm-based is supported by mobile OS such Windows Mobile, iPhone, Linux, Symbian and Android. The new processor will be available in second half 08.
