Windows 7 Promises More Touch, Less Keyboard and Mouse
Apparently Microsoft is changing from a very big proponent on Tablet and Ink technology to the Touch Technology in the next version on Windows
“The version after Vista is a big step forward in terms of speech. Touch-screen is likely to be the most broadly appealing of the new interfaces. “ Bill Gates said in an interview following his speech at Stanford University last week. “It’s a big step forward in terms of ink. It’s a big step forward in terms of touch.”
“I will say that if you are impressed by the ‘touch features’ in the iPhone, you’ll be blown away by what’s coming in Windows 7,” said Hilton Locke, a test engineer on the Tablet PC effort. “Now if only we could convince more OEMs that Windows Touch Technology is going to drive their sales.”
Due to the lack of luster of Windows Vista, industry expects Microsoft to release Windows 7 sometime next year. [Via News.com]
