According to the Herald Tribune, Microsoft has struck an alliance with Sony Ericsson to deliver handsets using its operating system, a Microsoft executive said Sunday. This is a great news, especially with Sony, which had resisted to use Microsoft mobile OS in the past in favor to Palm OS and Sony Ericsson also own the UIQ, a derivative of the Symbian OS.

“With Sony Ericsson we are now working with the top five handset makers around the world,” Microsoft product manager John Starkweather said in an interview before the Barcelona wireless conference.

We are still waiting more developing news of the alliance between Microsoft and Nokia that we shared with you earlier. [Thanks Scott Z.!]
