iPhone 2.0 Officially Supports Exchange

In the meeting at Apple headquarters in Cupertino today, Apple announces Microsoft Exchange support will be built right into iPhone meaning AcitiveSync/Exchange server to sync with the same e-mail app on the iPhone, same iPhone calendar, same contact list, etc.. Other familiar Exchange functions included: Remote Wipe (in event of lost), Push mail, Global address list, Cisco IPsec VPN, Certificates and identities, WPA2/802.1x, Enforced security policies, Device configuration.

The most anticipated iPhone SDK was also announced and it is available immediately. Apple will make available the Cocoa Touch, a new SDK for the iPhone to support multi-touch events and controls, the accelerometer, view hierarchy, localization, alerts, web view, people picker, image picker, and camera. All of these features will also be available for the iPod touch.

Apple will make available the AppStore for software distribution. Apps will also be available for purchase from a Mac or Windows PC. Developers will be able to set their own prices (including “free”) and will keep 70 percent of the revenues according to Jobs.
