Amazon Launches "TextBuyIt" Text Messaging Shopping

Amazon just launched their SMS shopping called TextBuyIt service to facilitate the spending of your hard-earned money where ever you are.

The service works on your cellphone, will let you text the name of a product, its description or its UPC or ISBN to 262966 (“Amazon” on the keypad). Of course Amazon wants you to do this from a brick & mortar store.

If Amazon stocks matching items, the service returns two results at a time. Shoppers can immediately buy one of the first two the selections by texting back the number “1″ or “2,” or they can ask for more by texting the letter “M.”

Customer then will be taken to few more steps to complete the transaction.

“We think this is a great experience. We think they’ll use the product…wherever they happen to be,” Howard Gefen, director of Amazon mobile payments.
