It Has Been 5 Years, 4 Billions Sold

Apple iTunes Store is celebrating today their fifth birthday with a staggering 4 billions of tunes sold. After surpasses US #1  Wal-Mart retail stores, iTunes store is on its way to world dominance of digital music sold with approximately 70% marketshare.

The iPod popularity plays a major part in the iTunes store success, however with pressure from major music labels for tier pricing, competitors such Amazon and the sales of iPod seems to plateau recently. Apple might have to re-think its strategy for the future.
