Creative Vado “YouTube” Camcorder For Father’s Day (Again, not the Pink one, please!)
We recommended you in an earlier post about the $180 Flip camcorder, but today, I had the chance to play with the Creative Vado, which is very similar to the day-to-day Flip camcorder but at much lower price ($93).
The Creative Vado is light, slim and very pocketable device. The 2” screen (640 x 240) is bright even for outdoor shooting. The device can record video at “YouTube” respectable 640×480 resolution at 30 frames per second with a push of a button. The 2GB onboard storage allows 2 hr of normal quality or 1 hr at higher quality. The audio is also captured with the onboard sensitive microphone.
The software comes on the camera storage. As soon as you plug the device to the USB port, the software launches to playback the video. The player has 2 buttons on the top right corner for YouTube and PhotoBucket upload. The video format is MPEG4 AVI XivD/DivX.. The Vado is fitted with a rechargeable removable battery that last about 2 hr of continuous shooting. The battery can be conveniently charged with the same USB connector.
The Creative can be mounted on a tripod for stability or if you want to record yourself. The A/V output is included for TV out but you have to buy separately.
My brother bought another one after he tried the unit. Since the last couple of day they are inseparable, he can’t stop shooting video and upload to his YouTube account.
There are several ways to record and upload video clips to YouTube, but this little device is very attractive for every day use.
