Get More Control With ActiveSync

When your ActiveSync is acting weird, you just want simply reset  it without a reboot your Windows OS. Or there are times where you just  want your mobile device to connect to the cradle to charge and you don’t need synchronization.

Even with the later version of ActiveSync 4.5, when your device is connected, ActiveSync automatically syncs very 5 minutes and there is no setting available to stop this process.

imageLuckily, there are ways that you can get more control over ActiveSync behaviors, below are 2 utilities I found:

  • ActiveSync Toggle utility: The new version allows ActiveSync to be disabled even when your PDA is connected (this should also improve the reliability of the disabling process).

  • Bye 5 minute Sync is a CAB file and setup launcher for easy installation plus a short TXT doc. The core file works by setting Cradled value to zero every minute. When nothing is cradled, no synchronization takes place (at least per personal observation)
