Microsoft Mobile Broadens Its Cloud Computing With MobiComp Acquisition

Today Microsoft announced its intention to acquire MobiComp, a mobile software company based in Braga, Portugal. 

MobiComp is known for solutions surrounding mobile data and mobile posting of social content to Web sites such as Facebook. Its current products included

  • MobileKeeper Backup & Restore over the air
  • MobileKeeper Sharing & Communities : a perfect tool for the burgeoning trend of mobile social networking. Users can create, share and download content, while building their personal communities and networks or publish content direct to blogs and social networking sites such as Flickr and Hi5 on the move, with ease.
  • Active mTicker.: an always-on, ‘zero-click’ application that pushes personalized information at subscribers via a scrolling ‘ticker’ that runs along the bottom of the screen when the device is in idle mode.
