Qtrax: Free and Legal Music Download
Qtrax, a legal Peer-to-Peer music distribution that allows listener to download legally DRM’ed songs.
We covered Qtrax last January but at the announcement, the service was received many skepticism from the blogosphere. Many of us thought it was a hoax, but now it has come back live.
The tunes playback within Qtrax client program (Windows only for now). The playback is ad supported. So don’t be surprised when you see a banner flying by during your listening enjoyment.
Currently Qtrax has Universal and EMI catalogs available on its servers and of course members can download tunes from its P2P networks. It is not clear if there is any filtering for songs from other labels that are not yet affiliated with Qtrax such Sony BMG and Warner.
There are so many music streaming services such Pandora, Last.fm, everywhere.fm, etc.. out there, but this solution allows offline listening.
