Rhapsody Goes DRM-Free and New Partnership Forming

imageRhapsody, a RealNetworks company  is well knows for music streaming and music  subscription service is jumping in to the DRM-free arena with other player and forming new relationships to broaden the consumer coverage from Internet to Web portal and mobile phone.

imageRhapsody launches new initiative, called “Music Without Limits,” which offer DRM-free mp3 format. The prices are 99 cents for a song and $10 for an album.   Which are pretty much the standard pricing. Except Amazon’s a little bit cheaper price. They are running a free album promotion  for the first 100,000 account.

As part of the new initiative, Rhapsody partners with Yahoo Music portal. If you visit the site. The new Rhapsody imagestore is included there. The link just points back to Rhapsody Web site.

Lastly, Rhapsody completes its plan with the partnership with  Verizon VCast service  to serve the mobile space customer. Subscriber to this service can purchase and download a copy of the song to their phone and the same song goes to the associated Rhapsody account.
