image AT&T has announced its AT&T Navigator Global Edition mapping service will be available across 20 countries. The move is significant since for the first time a carrier launch a location based service globally.

AT&T Navigator Global Edition is a GPS-based service that works in English, German, Italian, and Spanish for domestic Windows Moblie and BlackBerry handsets. In addition to point-to-point directions, a business finder  gives access to a database of 19 milllion businesses a travailer might need.

  • Real-time GPS enabled turn-by-turn navigation on your AT&T mobile Smartphone or static navigation and Local Search on your non-GPS AT&T mobile Smartphone
  • Global GPS turn-by-turn navigation—mapping and Point of Interest content for three continents, including North America (u.s., Canada, and Mexico), Western Europe, and China where wireless coverage is available from AT&T or its roaming providers

AT&T snagged the exclusivity of the summer Olympic games in Beijing, so AT&T attendees to the games will be covered.

Since AT&T does not carry the iPhone outside of the US. So the services will be for other phones only.

AT&T Navigator Global Edition includes the U.S  domestic version of this service, and is available for $19.98 per month. For more information, visit the  AT&T .
