HTC Tilt Sensor Got Reverse Engineered. SDK Available
For the last few year, I should say, the most innovative features on the mobile phone have been the multi-touch display, accelometer, haptic feedback and the tilt sensor. The latest handheld from HTC is using the latter in to few applications. For instance, HTC Touch Diamond user can silent the phone by just turn it upside-down; the landscape and portrait mode switching is automatic depending on the position of the phone; The most mentioned however, was a game called Teeter – some reviewers even said: “just playing the game will make you buy the device” – The game consists of making the little ball rolling to the holes in certain pattern of fences. The user controls the ball rolling just by tilting the device. The effect of gravity is very realistic and natural.
One would think, why HTC does not make the SDK API available so third party developers can create more applications or games to enrich the user experience. I just hope it is a matter of time. HTC has been busy to improve the code, new ROMs are still rolling out their labs as we speak. Fortunately, as reported by msmobiles, third party developers have successfully reverse engineered this tilt SDK and made available in the wild.
We should expect more and more apps will be available using this great feature within next few weeks.
