MS Wants Xbox 360: Your Ultimate Set-Top Box
At E3, Microsoft announces officially that Xbox 360 now lets Netflix subscribers stream movie. This free capability basically replace the $99 Roku.
The move seems to set the future trend that user might not need a Blue-ray player at home (nor the PS3) after all. All HD movies can be stream over the Internet to your living room TV. After the debacle of HD-DVD and Blue-ray. Microsoft could replace the HD-DVD add-on drive with a Blue-Ray, but it decided not to do so.
At E3, Microsoft also announces NBC and Universal will now join the Video Marketplace for the US and MGM and Constantin Film in Europe. Microsoft’s Don Mattrick stressed that Microsoft is now the world’s largest provider of on-demand high-definition television shows and movies with over 10,000 titles to choose from.
