image Until recently, on your Windows Mobile device browser, enter Google.com for a local search, Google performs a search based on last location you registered.

But now, Google just implemented  with its Gears Geolocation API, the search uses Cell ID technology same as Google Map Mobile. The API allows the search to automatically locate where you are to return the search results based on that location. The API is for Google Web app to branch out to your device to use other services from the OS. Web app is running with the browser, not the stand alone app.

Enter search argument such “movies”, “pizza”, “ATM”, etc…Google.com will provide the nearest facilities. If you want to search for a different location than where you are, just enter the location after the search argument e.g., “ice cream Kona Hawaii”
