Google is Determined about Android’s Revolution
Google is reaffirming it can revolutionize wireless Internet service on mobile phones the way that it transformed the search business on PCs.
in an interview with Reuter, Andy Rubin, Google’s director of mobile platforms, told Reuters that Android’s success hinges on the reception of the first phone, due out later this month.
"We’re in the final stages and having lots of sleepless nights," he said in an interview. "We’re very happy with the results," said Rubin, who worked previously at Apple and a number of Silicon Valley start-ups, Rubin was also the Co-Founder and ex-CEO of of Danger Inc., the maker of Sidekick (hence, T-Mobile is picked to market the first HTC Dream powered by Android).
Few interesting points:
- Google has received 1,759 3rd party apps and will be ready for Android Market Place. Unlike Apple, Google will not generate revenue from 3rd party app developer.
- Android Web browser will be based on Chrome
- Google makes it sounds like HTC “had” to work with Windows Mobile but now HTC hopes Google’s brand and popular services such as search, Gmail or YouTube can attract more consumers..said Jason Mackenzie, HTC’s North American vice president of operations.
