WSJ is Testing Sprint HTC Diamond
Just like the iPhone, Google Chrome, iPod, Mossberg’s gang seems to get a special treatment to play weeks ahead of the actual release.
This time is the HTC Diamond that Sprint will release shortly. There are not many thing that we have not covered here, but the verdict seems to be on the negative side.
“ After using the Diamond for a week, I can say that despite its handsome TouchFLO 3D software and animated icons like photos that flip from one to the next with a flick of finger, this device failed to disguise the frustrating interface of Windows Mobile often enough for my taste.
It reminded me of the brown paper bag book covers my Dad helped me make for schoolbooks when I was a kid: They looked great on the outside, felt sturdy and clean and created a blank canvas for homemade doodles that were often more interesting to me than the books they covered. But my book covers couldn’t change what was underneath; pages of frustrating algebra were just a flip away.”
nuf said, I think it is about time that Microsoft should get their head out of the sand and move quicker with a new refresh that your aging OS badly needs.

Personally, I like windows mobile. Sure, there are some features that annoy me, and it looks a bit ugly, BUT I love how its open and ripe for third party developers. I’ve ran into countless numbers of really interesting and useful apps. I actually considered an iphone for a while, but as soon as i heard how badly apple controls everything from the almighty apple store I was immediately turned off. BTW, I’m no fan boy; I run both windows and mac machines (and have qualms with both)
