image BusinessWeek reported learned that Microsoft will cut prices on all three of its Xbox 360 models in the U.S. on Sept. 5. With the price reduction the entry-level Xbox 360 Arcade, which at $199 will be the cheapest of the current generation of consoles on the market, $50 lower than the Wii.

The Nintendo Wii currently costs $249 and the Sony 80GB PS3 sells for $400.

Microsoft will also drop the price of its 60GB Xbox to $299 and its  120GB "Xbox Elite to $399.

The move is considered by games specialists a major psychological coup for game console to gain mass marketshare when the price goes below $200 mark.

No word yet from Nintendo and Sony, but we also should expect similar move in days to come.
