ActiveCaptain Mobile’s powerful marine navigation tools, chart archive and electronic guidebook is now available for millions of popular Windows Mobile phones. It’s like TomTom for your boat!!

image ActiveCaptain Mobile for Windows Mobile combines chart archive and marine navigation with access to ActiveCaptain’s (www.activecaptain.com) wiki-style database of cruising information.

ActiveCaptain Mobile provides three applications in one program. On its own it’s a chart archive providing the capability to store thousands of marine charts on a mobile phone. Users can explore possible destinations and plan future excursions from anywhere with full color NOAA charts. International charts will be available soon.

Add a GPS and ActiveCaptain Mobile becomes a powerful, portable chartplotter, tracking your location and showing your position on marine charts. It supplies a different perspective for boats with onboard navigation systems, or offers an important backup solution to that system. It provides a small portable chartplotter for the dinghy or for smaller vessels.

The addition of a data plan for the mobile phone turns ActiveCaptain Mobile into an online visual marine guide by displaying data from the ActiveCaptain web site. The web site has over 8,000 registered users and over 30,000 marinas, boatyards, anchorages, and local knowledge markers. Access markers to your mobile phone and they are displayed directly on real nautical charts providing a living electronic guidebook.;
For more information about ActiveCaptain Mobile, visit the Going Mobile section of the ActiveCaptain web site (www.activecaptain.com/GM.php). ActiveCaptain Mobile for Windows Mobile is available now for $19.95 and includes charts for one US NOAA region. A bundle of all 14 US NOAA regions covering the entire US coastline and the Great Lakes is only $49.95.
The ActiveCaptain web site is a visual database of marinas, anchorages, and local knowledge in a wiki-style that allows users to make additions, changes, and deletions. The web site continues to be free for anyone.
